POSITION: Middle School Counselor
RESPONSIBLE TO: Superintendent and Building Principal
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Coordinates all state testing for grades 6 – 8; works with Principal to coordinate test results and lead group data-driven decision making; coordinates and oversees all scheduling issues and serves as the Schedule Change Supervisor; coordinates registration of new and/or transfer students; counsels individuals and small groups with personal concerns; consults with teachers, staff, parents and other significant people regarding the developmental needs of students; refers students with significant challenges to appropriate community resources in consultation with their parents; participates in IEP meetings when necessary; plans, evaluates and revises the building counseling program; coordinates and conducts activities which contribute to the implementation of the middle school counseling plan; serves as ICAP Coordinator; participates in all assemblies and recognitions; coordinates 6th grade transition camp and 8th grade career tech trips; ensures appropriate discipline procedures are followed; other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree from four-year College or University and valid
Oklahoma school counselor certification.
OTHER
REQUIREMENTS: Regular attendance following a designated work schedule; must be
able to attend and participate in meetings and conferences scheduled.
