POSITION:                            PART-TIME TITLE I ACADEMIC COACH

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:           Superintendent, Building Principals and Director of Instruction

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:        Models enthusiasm, commitment and intensity for educating all students; visits classrooms on a daily basis to: encourage and support teachers in their efforts to implement ACT preparation, Individual Career Academic Plans (ICAPs), and character education, demonstrate strategies teachers can use to improve learning and provide remediation, observe and problem-solve with teachers on how to overcome student learning obstacles; develops effective communication strategies among other members of the Leadership Team and the school faculty; coordinates and oversees the PLC process with principals and PLC leaders, both in groups and individually, to provide ongoing guidance and support; meets regularly with teachers, both in groups and individually, to analyze student work and instructional practices to ensure that “best practice” methods are utilized; organizes and monitors the assessment processes used to determine student academic performance and instructional grouping for remediation; assists teachers with analysis and instructional use of student formative academic data; supplies assessment data on students to the principals and the director of instruction; works with teachers and counselors to ensure students meet academic requirements; works with teachers and counselors to implement ICAPs; facilitates the use of data in supporting teachers in the setting and measuring of achievement toward school goals; organizes and leads regularly scheduled staff development programs which are needs-based and focus on effective instruction and the utilization of benchmarks; models professional practice by engaging in individual growth plans and by participating in and/or facilitating professional learning sessions based on the specific needs of teachers for the implementation of school goals; upgrades instructional knowledge and skills by keeping apprised of the most current research in education and shares information regularly with staff; analyzes availability of supplemental materials, recommends needed purchases, organizes materials, and advises teachers of available resources; seeks grant-related, district, and community support for development of resources; celebrates successes with teachers and recognizes their efforts; performs other responsibilities, as necessary, for the effectiveness of the organization.

EDUCATIONAL

  REQUIREMENTS:                        Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and valid certification. Minimum of three years teaching experience.

 

OTHER

  REQUIREMENTS:                        Regular attendance following a designated work schedule; must be able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities; must be able to attend and participate in meetings and conferences scheduled.
